i was riding and noticed the long oil filter bolt was backed out. I went to tighten it up and realized the threads are stripped. The bolt came out and the threads on the bolt look fine. I'm sure this has happened to someone before!! can you help?? I'M READY TO RIDE!!!!!!!!

Just have someone bore out the hole and retap it for a larger bolt. If you have some tool experience it's pretty simple to do yourself.

the threads are about 2.5-3" into the block. The long bolt is only threaded on the very end. Taps I have are not that long!

You should be able to get a longer tap from a hardware store for under 5 bucks. You dont need to thread it that deep anyway, as long as the cover is clamped down tight, thread depth doesnt matter, and larger threads will be stronger.

The torque on those bolts is only 84 inch lbs (7 ft lbs). They always get over torqued and either snap or strip.

If tapping it out to the next bigger size doesn't work perhaps a helicoil would work.
