it's not like it's a huge deal, but i HATE the way my header is like a rust color from all the burnt on mud and crap. is there an easy way to get rid of this look. i really cant afford a new header or a bunch of header wrap. like i said, not a huge deal..... just wanting to know if there is a secret to making it look better.

Not sure how well this would work, but try powerwashing and then sand it down and shoot it with some Header paint. The stuff I used I bought at the local auto parts store, Hi-Heat Header Black...or something similar. That should make it look better and provide a protective coat over your exhaust. Should make it easier to clean as well.

Try using a brillo pad or a wire wheel on a drill. Then once its rust free use some hi temp black paint for bbq grills;)

I considered wrapping mine in header wrap. It would look nice but most importantly it would keep people guessing what was under there..........hahaha.

use lime away on the header then when its cleaned off spray wd40 on there it was in the March 2007 QU4D magazine, haven't tried it yet but it seem like it would work.

i had the same probly when i first bout my quad it was preowned and had mud baked onto the header so i used a fine grade sand paper and then washed it off

4 1/2" angle grinder with mild wire wheel. takes it off in a couple minutes. then just go over the harder to reach areas with sandpaper or whatever. let the grinder do all the work.

I used sand paper and then a buffing wheel with a corse compound. Here is how it turned out.

Here it is after.

Here it is after the first time the quad ran with it on.

Only thing like everone else said the mud will just bake back on.
