The key is there to only set the timing in mass production. Not to keep the flywheel from rotating.

Check the taper surfaces on both pieces, put in a new key, get the green sleeve retaining loctite and apply it, then torque wrench it on.

over 200 pounds of compression on the motors is a failure waiting to happen. been there done that and seen it many times. that is why i try to keep my motors in the 180 pound range.

Mark Mark, Are you running ceramic bearings? I have run 210 to 260 pounds of compression for 4 years in several engines. I have only had crank bearings fail once. I used ceramic bearings in that one and that was the only one that had trouble. With standard bearings I don't thik there is an issue with that kind of compression.

you could also just put a pvl on they dont use a key way we have had a few 48 cranks fail
