my best advice is to talk to people. and keep an eye out on ebay.

get a part time job for alittle cash and find some connections, i did my rebuild for around 500$, and some of the parts were as a gift to me.

I hope your Son's feeling better. I usually have company in my garage too. I have to watch my dog. He likes to chew on my screwdrivers.

The quad looks great.

he is all boy so he'll make it through. our first so we are kind of learning, and next time he will just have to stay inside with his mother. he is only 16 months so he should heal up with little to no evidence of the stitches. thanks for the compliments and the concern!

It will fit, there all hard to put on, I once had a 12t.. jeez, that was hard, just find a large socket to fit around that loop down and get a hammer or a rubber mallet, and it will go on, dont worry. Well, as long as its for a 400ex. If you dont want to put it on, I'll take it off your hands. Just so you dont have to worry about anyone tripping on it or anything.. (Just Joking!!) ;)

Its looking real good! Make sure to keep us updated!

I run the same filter, you're going to want to leave the filter cage inside it. It prevents the filter from collapsing on itself when you're hard in the gas. The black plastic ring on the end of the filter cage is also what allows the hose clamp sealing the filter to the intake boot to have something solid to clamp to. If you didn't run the filter cage you would be clamping a rubber tube to a rubber tube and it would just collapse. You'll see what i'm talking about once you get it installed.

I run the UNI in an aluminum airbox, but I can tell you that it is larger than the stock air filter, so you're probably going to have to cut the lower tabs off ;)

Yeah bleeding the lines does suck :p When you remove the brake lines, a lot of air gets inside the calipers, and that takes a lot of bleeding to get out. When I did my SS lines, I used a Mityvac to speed the process up and it still took forever!

I wouldnt doubt it,i have a set of 07 take offs on my 250r with plus 2 a arms and they are fairly stiff and im 215lbs:eek2: Im at like 12 clicks or so out on the compression.I like'em though...for now:D

i think i will get a new set of springs for the 450r shocks. but i just took my ninja to the shop to have the carbs rebuilt, new fork seals and the valves adjusted, plus i ordered my lexx slip-on. so when i find out how much all that puts me back i will go from there. plus i REALLY hated having to cut my scoops. i just had them pc'd!

BigBore24
04-07-2008, 02:21 PM
hey stuntin, what did you end up having to do to get the brakes blead out? i just bought a set of steel braided lines for mine. do the braided lines make any differences. i figured i could bleed them the old conventional way. will it not work?

Actually, as far as I remember, this is how it goes:

2004 - Soft

2005 - A lot stiffer

06-08 - A little softer than 05 but still much harder than 04.

I dont think so because if you read review articles from when the 2006 450r came out in the suspension they say a little heavier spring and stiffer than the 2005.

2006 TRX 450r review: "The 450R’s suspension has been updated front and rear. While front end wheel travel remains unchanged, the front shocks now feature a stiffer spring rate for more bottom resistance and to counteract the extra weight placed on the front wheels due to the longer swingarm. The front shocks now feature an aluminum spring preload adjustment reducing weight by 225 grams per shock. Out back, the rear shock was also lightened and suspension travel was lengthened from 9 inches to 9.3."

BIGBORE24 I just installed the lines. then after i got the line hook up to the mastercyclinder i to the lines off the calipers and sumerged then in 2 cans of brake fluid and bleed the lines. then i hooked the lines up to the calipers without pulling in the brake lever, i hooked a hose up to the bleeder valve on the calipers then ran the hose till it was sumerged in the fluid and pumped the lever till all the bubbles came out. if you need a hand leave me a pm with your phone # and i can give you a hand this weekend. i have to put on my exhaust and jet the carb friday then put a clutch in my friends r1. but i am open on sunday after noon.
