Questions RE title transfer

So I want to go pick up my friends yfz for 500 bucks but I know I just can't give him the money and just take the quad. Can he just give me the tile and were good to go? Or do I have to take it some place and do something with it? And how can I tell if this is the original title or just a copy? Thanks

you should go to your county clerk's office ( or equivalent) and they can tell you what you need to do. In tennessee you have to have a bill of sale and the signed title and there are some fees.

Every state is different, Iowa you need to be titled and registered, wisconson needs registration only, mo. and Kansas need title with bill of sale...
