I might be getting into quads again if a guy contacts me about trading for my bike. He has a 310 big bore 250R. I'm not sure what kind specifically, so I'll get that info if he gets back with me. I've never been into 2 strokes and was wondering what the 310 would be comparable to. I've rode a 400ex with just about everything done to it, a 660R with a pipe/jet/filter/geared down, and a YFZ-450 with the same mods.

If its a properly tuned, and ported 310, it will smoke the 400EX and the 450, the raptor might have more pull on top, but the 310R will have more low and mid, depending on porting type of course.

last year i went ot a ice race and when the open/mod quad class came on there was a ltr a yfz and a 450r then a 250r we were takin bids on who would win and they took a prat lap and the 250 was goin really slow and the 450s were flyin and i called the 250r, they guy had to have a 310 in it it hosed the **** out of every quad out there it flew,
i think a 310 would knock you socks off... only thing other is to put a CR 500 in it and mod that out all the way.

When my 270 stock jug is running well it has no problem passing cam'd 450's. But even if it didn't the revvyness of the motor has that fun factor 4strokes can't match. 450's have a broader powerband than I do, but I don't need big power at 3k rpms. Riding in the fun zone is unmatchable fun.

another thing i've noticed is that with a larger piston you can lug it out more, and you can take it a little lower RPM. and still have it,

its also personal riding. i feather my clutch all the time, when i go in to corners i have it pinned then let off down shift and drop the clutch and pinn it then feather it, all the way to the top of the gear
