Well I need help with my senior paper real bad. The footnote part has got me so frustated. I have to write it out MLA style. They said to cite theories facts controversies argument material common knowledge and so on. This is my problem, I choose the history of motocross for my paper. The average Joe don't know anything about motocross or where it came from. So after every sentence I have to cite it. This is killing me because every paragraph is a page long. I have a lot of material to write about as well. The packet they gave us said for citing internet sources, I have to put this at the end of every paragraph.

Youngblood, Ed. “The birth of motocross: 1924 through 1939.” The History of Motocross: Part One. 8 March 2008 <http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org>.

Can anyone help me with this? It has to be doubled spaced as well. Is that the right way to footnote a internet source?

Hope this makes sense.

dont really know what your asking for help for, but do you have an MLA book or handout your teacher gave you? if not check out this website.... shows you how to cite web sources. http://www.thewritesource.com/mla.htm
i dont remember exactly how to do it but that somewhat looks to be correct, but dont quote me on that. i always HATED doing those papers where you had to cite sources. was the WORST! only a year ago i was doing that and i cant remember how to do it lol. good luck if you have any more questions ask and ill try to answer.

you are just in luck im still in college and this is how you have to write all the time its in fun.

the way you have it in your post is perfect for the works cited page but is the incorrect way for having a citation in the paper.

There are a few factors when citing in the paper. First what type of online source is it, second what does the source have for author information, and finnally what information do you put in the citation.

An in text citation the basic gist is to state the authors name and the page number. For example
(Butler, 55)

What is really needed in an online in text citation, or any in text citation, is to identify the source within the works cited. This is usually done by identifying the author and the page, paragraph, or some other way to identify the work.

Online source citation example.

(Butler, pars. 2-5) pars meaning paragraphs

or

(Butler, Title )

Hopefully this helps you out, always remember to make sure that I am correct or anyone else here is correct before submitting your work.

Teachers don't like the excuse of some dude online told me to do it this way hahaha :blah:

Alright, so say I'm going to quote something off a example website. The autor's name is John Doe, the title of the article is Lawn Mowers and the info is in paragraphs 1-3. It would look like this?

(Doe, Lawn Mowers)

or

(Doe, pars. 1-3)

I wouldn't have to write down the website that I got the info off of with the intext citation?

Also, if I'm using the same website but different pages, would I have to cite the other pages pages in my bibliography?
