welp, after much cutting, grinding, drilling, and welding (machinist friends are good) ive now got a beefy set of heelguards.
these were prm products 400ex stock peg heelguards. they are now 300ex ims peg heelguards!

what i was really going for was not only a sturdier heelguard but a good place for my g-friends feet when we ride double. i think it will work out well as long as she minds her toes.

also installed my damper. its gonna be good riding this season!

Real nice!
Ain't it great to have firends with skills and tools? I want to have a set made to fit my DG fat nerfs. Luckily there is a fabricator in my small town that has skills and likes wheelers.
It is all to easy for me to see myself getting careless or just unlucky and running over my own heel,,,,,,,

Very nice, professional looking heelguards. Probably the best ones I've seen on a 300ex.

I dont know how I rode without my damper. I have a Denton. vary similar damper. I mounted mine in reverse so i could adjust it without having to get off of my atv.

thanks y'all. it took about all winter before they were ready to bolt on. mostly just because he did the welding in his freetime at work.

Bwamos, if youve got pics of your damper mounting id love to see it. when i turn hard right the shaft could contact the front bumper if its bouncing. speaking of that, how noisy are these dampers when riding? will it make some clattering from bouncing on the heim joints?
edit:
ive got it to where its free all around now, no clearance issues. just needed to slide things around a bit more. what setting do you prefer for woods riding?

what does a damper actually do? Kind of a stupid question, but i dont have a clue. And also just curious, where do you ride around in ohio? Im from Ohio and just lookin for some good places to ride.

i ride at wayne nat'l forest mostly.

steering dampers help eliminate bump steer. also help absorb the impact of sharp edged obstacles like roots and rocks that come through your bars to your hands and up. this reduces fatigue.

could also help keep things under control at high speeds and probably other benefits too. i believe it will be a welcome addition.

Those are the sexiest heel guards i've ever seen. Tell your friend great job. I'd love to have a set like that.

Thanks for making me aware that PRM makes those kinda heel guards!
