Does anyone know the best way to break a atv tire bead? i have hiper rims and am looking to install some tire balls myself. I've heard the beads on atv tires can be a pain in the a**

ive actually found breaking the beads on OEM rims like honda's are a big pain. the ones off aftermarkets shouldnt b as bad. one trick i've read on these forums that works is laying the tire on the floor and running the edge of the tire over with a truck to break the bead.

the redneck method if you dont have the tools is lay your wheel on a piece of plywood or some timbers of some sort then take about a 4 foot 2x4 and lay it just at the edge of your rim on the bead making a ramp from the ground then drive gently on to it with a car or truck or anything heavy this will normally work if not walmart is cheap on utility tire mounts about 5 bucks a tire just be careful really need a spotter so you dont get hurt or mess up a rim

good luck

when i was getting new tires i used a dremel and cut off my tire off not the best way if u want to keep the tire but u can aways use ducktape to put it back together :D

Wal-Mart only charged me $13.00 to do both front tires!:eek2:

That includes taking the old ones off, and installing the new ones. Wal-Mart is officially the tire-changing place for me. For the price it doesn't pay to do it yourself.

yeah, yoyu can get it for around $10, sometimes less, i'll hafta try walmart next time! But they're a pain to do yourself. I'd rather pay to get it done than paying the hospital bill. Put a hole in my arm with a crowbar last time. Had screw drivers flip off. I'll tell ya, they know the sweet spots.....*******s....

if you're going to do it yourself getting a bead breaker like one guy posted from harborfreight makes it fairly easy! otherwise just take it to get it done somewhere

Did you get the Honda rims to break with the Harbor freight tire changer? Took mine to a buddy with that changer and I still cant get the honda ones to break?!!! Messed up and went to tires plus to get it done and AFTER they did it they handed me a $40 bill. For 2 tires I got robbed. Tried to argue to no avail.
I DIDDNT WANT TO GO TO WALLMART because they scratched up my last set baaaad!!!

my brother and i have gotten tires of honda rims before! depends on how thick the bead on the tire is as to how hard it is to get off
