my stock shocks wouldnt bottom out on this jump, but my elka's do. Unless i land really smooth. I really need to get those things dialed in. Hope the pic comes up.

Go to a GNC national race,,you'll see every make and model get abused. I've seen pro's bottom out Axis and I thought the frame was gonna break in half along with the rider..

Here's a pic of the jump were the Pro's were bottoming out so hard there was a huge thunk from every guy that jumped it...they were alos landing on flat ground.. This jump is no longer there they filled it in..:macho

I have never bottomed my Elka's out. :) Then again I am not doing a 70' double either. I will really put them to the test this weekend in Oklahoma! :devil

Yea the company you buy them from will set them up for you. They set them up for whatever kind of riding you do. MX, XC, Drag, etc.

I got my shocks from the quadshop. I needed them valved for 400ex a-arms. Would they take the shocks back and re-valve them for free. I have only had them for around 2 months.

Its like Rico said. I traveled to all the GNC MX races this year and every shock made has had its moments in racing. We have a Laeger with ZPS and it bottomed on some jumps. Tim Farr was bottoming out with his bike at London,KY. Doug Gusts hit bottom in NC at that track. High Point gets shocks to Bottom out all over. Its what you and your shocks can handle. I had Works triple rates that were pretty good. I now have 19" TCS that are great. I used ZPS and they were fine as well. If you are a beginner and you have them set your shocks up for an A rider in MX they will suck for you. The shocks you buy have to be built for you and only you. I race in the A class week in and week out. I let no one ride my quad and I ride no ones quad because the shocks are like your girlfriend. Its cool to have your friends wish they had them but you never want them to go out and ride them. So when you decide on your shoc that fits your money and needs dont lie to the man making them. He could care less if you race A or beginner. Mo;)

Out in the sand my ohlins will take 4th gear bowl jumps to flat ground. But I don't know how high that is. Wish I had pics. They are valved for a 190lb rider for a 400EX, I weigh little over 145lbs and have them on my R. They are harsh at anything less then 75% pace. I am looking into getting them valved with moto 440 springs. I think I may just sell them though and buy TCS.

Here is a pic of me jumping my buddies R with a stock rear shock and works triple rate fronts valved for 170lb rider. I over jumped it once and it about killed me. I over jumped it a few times on my bike and it was fine. That was easy thrid gear. I think I have another pic somewhere of me bottoming a bike hard, I will have to look.
