the 300ex is outdated shoot when it was updated all they did was cam in what late 80s plus weight 300weighs a ton

power to ratio and gearing and 300ex has been unchanged in a long time so tech. also plays a role

The 280ex will just flat smoke the 250 raptor in a 200' drag race on black pavement with both drivers equal weight.With 160lb riders the ex was beating the rapy by 3 quads in 200' and did not really pull away much till the 150' then those extra cc started to make it up.In 300' it would be more like 5-6 quads!
We ask the dealer, whos parking lot we were on,to bring out a 300ex to race and he said sure let me go get one.Well after waiting about a half an hour they came out with a raptor 350 instead of the 300ex,oh well.
That thing is a real pig it was getting beat by 4-5 quads in the same 200' drags by the 280,it just could not launch out of the hole.Then the dealer wanted to know if we would race the 700 raptor,he is a funny guy. I told him were fast not fools!
After some food and drinks and small talk we found out that the max weight for a 250 raptor rider is 110lbs not 150 like the ex.
So just to be fair we came up with a new more even race,so we thought.After a lot of BS,signing a release form not to sue them and big check for the quad, just in case,they aggrement was made to let my 9 year old grandson drive the 250 raptor.
Now the worm has turned with just 65lbs of no fear on it, that raptor can move, now we are talking inchs well half a quad anyway.Do the math ,100lbs less=3quads less in 200' the 250 rappy is fast on the track not real good for drags.
One other thing we are not scared of a stock 700 raptor if he wants to do our race, that being 150' in the dirt, with a 9 year old on the bottle, let's get-r-done.
Have you guys ever seen or rode a full blown race 300ex they can be scary fast!
