Many say use wd-40. Wd-40 is a better cleaner than a lubricant. ITs better than nothing but not the best. I personally like maxima chain wax. Warm up the chain, spray it on and let it sit a few min, then you are ready to ride and it wont sling off.

On an o-ring chain the pivots are sealed off by the o-rings so it is impossible to lubricate them. All that is necessary is to keep it clean, coated with some sort of rust inhibitor as well as something to protect the rubber o-rings from deterioration. WD40 works great for all three. Spray the chain, hold a rag around it while spinning the back tires (by hand:) and you are done, the chain is clean and has a light coat of oil on it.

You should still use lube to prevent wear in the sprockets, contact points on the chain and to lower the amount of friction on the chain.
