does anybody know if a shock setup for a +1.25 swingarm will work with a stock swingarm? i bought one off ebay & the buyer said it would & from what i gather from Houser's website it will but does anybody know for sure before i tear the bike apart to install it?

thanks

j/w is it harder to wheelie? How much harder? What about just 1'' longer?

i run a 460 stroker so wheelies are no problem

They say 1" longer isn't really that much of a difference over the stock one.

i can say that a +1.25 swinger on a stock bore 400 is easy to wheelie, but the balance point is a little farther back than a stocker. but when you have a lot of motor work, it doesnt matter:macho

if the question is if the shock will work yes it will but becuase of the extra leverage of the longer swingarm it will bottom out easier. You can get your shock revalved for it though. I have a +1.25 houser swing arm and gt thunder link and stock revalve. It does keep the front end down but if you want it to come up it will. Negative is it decreased the turning radius which usually can be helped out with a little throttle to spin it around:macho

a longer swingarm will work with the stock shock and linkage system. Like cory said it will put more leverage on the shock thus affecting it's travel. Getting it rebuilt would be ideal, but it will still function as it is.

How would a decreased turning radius be a negative?

Would that not make it easier to turn with LESS throttle and steering effort?

As a general rule(a lot of other factors involved), a larger wheel base will have an increased or larger turning radius. An extended swing arm should increase the turning radius.

The turning radius is defined as the smallest circular turn a vehicle is capable of making. In other words, a U turn.
