Both swaps will cost the same and involve the same amount of work. Most times YZ motors are cheeper than CRF motors. You need a radiator. Stock 250r is around $50 or aftermarket will be around $400.

I took pice of engine kits like the front mounts and kick start extention. I brought my quad and motor to a welder and showed him what I needed done. He did it all for me for $270.

My whole swap including the engine and all that totaled $1970. That was using a prw radiator. It would have been $400 cheeper if I just used a stock 250r radiator totalying $1570

To make a kick start extention just buy two kick start lever nuckles and weld a 1" pipe between the two.

bout how much for a motor? which is more reliable and faster?

From what it sounds like is that the yz is more reliable. As for power its pretty close.

Over at the bike forums they make it sound like the yz is overall better than the crf.

I got my 02 yz426 motor with the full exhaust/carb/elec/ for $1300.

Stock yz426 hp 47hp
stock yz450 hp 49hp
stock crf450 hp ??hp I read 55hp
