Snorkle????

What exactly does a snorkle do on a 400ex? Do you really need it?? Kinda dumb question but I really want to know.

The snorkle is was designed to enable your quad to cross high water. I think they should have designed it like a cool air induction system with an outer filter for the snorkle. The snorkle is can be removed for more air flow but in very dusty conditions I would recommend leaving it on.
