do i need to remove tne chain or can i just loosen it up and remove the front sprocket and install the new one?

No, you do not need to remove the chain. Like you said, just loosen it up and you should be able to remove it no problem.

IF I GO FROM A 15 TO A 13 TOOTH SPROCKET WILL I HAVE 2 GET A NEW CHAIN?

pretty sure their will be enough adjustment on your carrier that you'll be fine.I just bought a 13 tooth sprocket to play around with but i haven't installed it yet.I bought a primary drive front 13 tooth sprocket and it came with 2 clips has anyone seen this before?

MINE HAS CAME WITH ONE CLIP. MIGHT HAVE BEEN A SCREW UP. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

You're only supposed to get 1 clip. 2 must have been a screw-up.

HOW MUCH WOULD I LOSE IN TOP END WITH A 13T? I KNOW IT WILL BE QUITE A BIT BUT, 10 MPH SEEM REASONABLE OR COULD IT BE MORE.

This may not work for the newer model 400ex's....

thanks for all the help! i went ahead and bought a 14t then if the 13t is terrible i can just change them out.
