My daughter is ready to move up from her Eton 50M to a 90. I am considering a 2006 90R (2 stroke) and a 2007 90R (4 stroke).

Any known problems with either one? I prefer the 2 stroke since I have about 30 yrs experience working on them. Any advantage to the 4 stroke>

Only other quad being considered is the Can Am DS90X. Kind of scared of it since I am hearing it is very slow unless you spend some money on the motor.

I’m not sure but I think the 50m frame is the same as the Viper 70/90 frame now. If that’s the case I would find a 90cc jog motor bolt it in and start building. If not I’d find a 90 w/o reverse if your going to race it. But I’d stay 2 stroke as long as you can. Kyle’s going 4 stroke (trx90 Honda) because he’s only got two years left before he has to go to the 300 class anyway.

The Can-Am with a pipe. Cdi, and clutches is testing at double the HP. But it will set you back about 800 shinnies for the upgrades. They can’t make the pipes fast enough. Just the pipe makes a big difference.

frame is the same on all the vipers,I'd buy 90 motor and bolt in it,stay away from a eton 90r motor. They have had many problems shift motors and electrical on them. Been there done that  You would need all the variator parts, 90 cranks are larger diameter shaft also.

I have a 50m also ,I added the spindles and front brakes on it off a 90 for add stoppage:chinese:

Do you have any mods to your 50m now or any racing in the future?

Hey Guys, don't mean to step on anybody, but if it's a 50M the frame is differant, the 50 viper is the same as the 70 and 90 but the 50M (mini) is differant.

`Hey mxdad423, Just wondering what is the dirrerance in the frames? mine is an 05 RXL50M model and everything looked the same as my 90 &90R frames. Just curious, thats what I like about the etons is all the interchangable parts.:D

No racing...just riding in the woods and fields.

She has decided she wants a pink one so it looks like it will be a 07 0r 08 90R 4 stroke.

only problem I had w/90R was the shifting from N to F or R wanted to shut off etc, hopefully eton has made it more reliable since 05 models

Good luck

I'm having the same problem with the R/N/F switch. What was the fix for it shutting off. Thanks!

Went ahead and bought an 08 90R. So far she is very happy with it. The 4 stroke is more powerful than I expected.

Shifting works fine as long as you pull in the brake...otherwise it dies.
