Just seeing if anyone is running the 8 plate clutch set up from gt thunder or sparks and how you like it. I'm considering getting one since my cluch is bad.

mine has the sparks 8 plate kit in it.
it is a little stiff, but works great. i have a decently built 416.

I have a built 440 stroker with a hinson basket and gt 8 plate kit. ive had it in for about 4 months with no problem. It seems to grab better than the stock one.

Running the same GTT 452 stroker :D

I have the Hinson clutch basket, pressure plate, and inner hub along with the HD clutch springs, and 8 plate Honda fibers/steels. Laz at GT Thunder told me he couldn't use the stock 400EX steels for this kit as they were too thick for the 8 plate setup so he provided thinner ones (may be the ones from the GTT kit). Laz's kit is nice too but uses modified factory clutch components. I wanted a full billet clutch to minimize wear, so I sprung for the full Hinson kit at the time.

Anyways the clutch grabs real nice and has no problem putting the power the stroker puts out to the ground. I'm running a Magura hydraulic clutch, so I don't even notice the HD clutch springs.

I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT INSTALLING A HYDRO CLUTCH ON MY 400. HAVE ONE ON MY ZX7R AND IT IS LITTLE TO NO MAINTAINENCE

How much stiffer is the clutch lever pull with the hd springs? or is it not very bad.

I couldnt tell that big a difference between the hd springs and stock. They were a little stiffer, but not bad.

I have an 8 plate kit from Laz. Using the Magura hydro clutch lever, it is easier and smother then stock!

I have been lookin into doing the conversion my self, i believe that they use 250r steels and fibers because they are thinner, thus allowing the use of 8 plates.
The only reason it would cause stiffer lever pull would be the springs used......
not to mention the machining of the basket and or pressure plate.....

It is actually 8 400ex fibers with 300ex steels and the stock inner pressure plate is machined about .02 off the clutch faces to make room.
