I just picked up a 06 trx 450 and I changed the oil. I read through the manual and ended up adding Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 to both sides. (left over from streetbike) Is this ok? Thanks

Statement of benifits form mobil 1:

Maximum shear stability to resist viscosity shear down in high performance engines and transmissions
Exceptional thermal stability to resist oxidation and high-temperature degradation
Outstanding protection against wear of engine and transmission components
Enhanced lubrication to help maintain maximum power and acceleration over the life of the engine
Optimized wet-clutch performance , meets JASO MA
Excellent low temperature flow characteristics to help minimize engine wear during start-up

I had questioned that too, so it is perfectly fine to use regular 20-50 on both sides i dont need a special fluid for the trans side?

no you can use the same on both sides and it is perfectly fine. Alot of people do use bel-ray and other high brands with a higher viscosity and they will recomend it, but trust me, it is perfectly fine.

Car oil has moly in it. Moly will make your clutch slip. If you want to use non motorcycle/trans gear lubricate, you must use oil that is recommended for diesel engines. Diesel oil contains very little to no moly unlike gas engine oil. I personally would NOT use gas engine oil in my transmission. Valvoline and Mobil 1 both make a 5w40 full synthetic diesel oil.

Yes it is OK. Any motorcycle oil is fine for both sides.

Thanks for the replys. You guys may not believe me but the bike starts way better. Before it had to turn it over a few times before it would start. Now as soon as you hit the start button it fires right up. I know it sounds like BS but it's true. WEIRD

I've run Honda, Belray, Amsoil, and Rotella in my R. Never noticed anything different between any of them.
Well besides price.

I've been running the Rotella 5w-40 synthetic for about a year and a half now.

Rotella 5w40 synthetic is $16 a gallon at walmart. (Engine side)
Rotella 15-40 conventional is $10 a gallon at walmart (Tranny side)

Amsoil is like $7-8 a quart if u buy it in bulk. At dealers its normally like $10-11

Most of the oils at the atv deals are $7+ a quart. Its retarded, I really really doubt its any better or harder to make then the car oils that are $2-5 a quart.
Everything powersports related is super over priced, its really sad.

Ah I'll have to keep an eye on the pepboys and autozone flyer's.
My dad uses mobil1 in 3 of his truck so he'd be glad to get it on sale lol.
