Well im forced to get a car because i wont be able to drive my dads truck this summer and i can only afford a car otherwise i would be buying a truck. so im just wondering what you guys would recommend. i dont have a whole lot of money to spend, only about 7000 lol. so obviously i wont be buying a new car. i need something that will get good gas mileage. i was looking at a kia spectra and it looks pretty nice and really good price, but i havent really drove one or anythign so idk to much about them.

Well, if you can get past the 'un-cool' factor, just about any 4-door sedan with a V6 will get you about 25-30mpg. I drive a 96 Olds Cutlass Ciera to/from work everyday. It's great. Has been very reliable and has paid for itself time and time again just on fuel savings. Plus it keeps the miles off of my new truck.

I'd recommend just about any GM car with either the 3.1 or 3.8 V6 engines.

I paid $3200 for this car 3 years ago and it had ~40k on it. I've got 87k on it now and have put new tires, and an alternator in it. Also replaced some rusted brake lines.

for 7000 you can get a real good car with good gas milage. My friend got that BMW 318is and it gets great mpg and it only has 40k on it!!! I would recomended import, they are really reliable and always get great gas milage. BUT if your looking for a truck you could deff find something for under 7gz and If you want good gas milage just get an older diesel truck their good on gas.

I got a 4cyl Dakota w/ 90k on it for $4k. I drove it to death and it had over 210k on it when I sold it to a kid down the road. He put it in a demo derby and won a couple of heats with it. For $7k you can find a decent truck if you really want to.

well at least that car isnt a ricer^

get a vw if you can find a 1.6l turbo diesel or the new 1.9l turbo diesel motor vw makes id pick it up in a heartbeat. the vw diesels are amazing i know of many people that get over 50mpg with the new ones.

oh and if this isnt a buy point VW has the the highest resale value of any manufacturer.... look it up!

I wouldn't pass up a cheap civic. You may think that they are a ricer car, but think about it; there is a reason why all of the poor high school kids drive them. They are unbreakable and get steller milage.
