YFZ 450 hybrid question?

I just bought a yfz 450 motor and i plan to put it in my 400ex, but today when i got it all mached up i realized the oil tank won't fit down between my frame rails, is there anyway to get rid of the tank and run like a wet sump or something?

i dont think that'd be the best solution, you'll prolly have to find a place to mount it up closer to the front and then make your own lengthened tubes and stuff to connect it back to the engine just like stock....just farther away :confused:

i mean i've never done it so im not sure but, i'm just gonna guess your going to have to find somewhere to mount the oil tank.

i'll probably just have a skinnier tank made so it will fit down in there better.

that skinnier tank sounds like a good idea just make sure that it will hold the proper amount of oil.

You can't fit the stock 400ex oil tank and adapt the hoses?

no, because the rad is right where the 400ex oil tank would go

Pm "ss400ex" or check in the Hybrid forum. He builds custom oil tanks for swapping a YZ400 - 426 into a 400ex chassis. YZ450F should be the same size so his oil tank should work.

does it matter how high or low the tank is mounted, will it affect oil flow, or does the motor pump it through.

well i ran into another problem, the carb is hitting on my top left frame rail. Will it affect performance if i make something to move the carb straighter to the motor.

how are you gonna have an intake set-up with the frame rail being right there?

just use a clamp on filter and you won't have to worry about an airbox.

i was thinking on doing that but it would have to be a pretty tiny filter to fit in there, i was just going to use flex pipe to route it to the airbox
