i just got my 08 400ex a month ago. I have done quite a few mods and one of the smaller ones was the addition of the parking brake block-off plate. installed in 30 seconds. problem is now i have the parking brake mechanism hanging on swing arm. can i remove this partly or does it have to be done in whole?

just diconnect it from the clutch lever and unsrew the cable of the swingarm and just pull it of. You need to pull it from the front to the back.

I see you finally realized what we told you. I tried to talk you in to a block off a couple of months ago and you said you didn't want it. You must have gotten tired of constantly adjusting it or was it the brake drag that convinced you the park brake was worthless.

sorry hornet but i think you go tme confused with someone else. i just got on here like 3 weeks ago as i have only had my bike a month now. i do however wonder what difference it has made to the actual ride. just seemed like a cheap mod that i have seen and heard of people doing, plus my P-brake didnt work anyways and who really needs one? love this site though and all the info i get from it. going home to re-jet my carb today and put the Sparks timing advance key in. think that will about do it for my ride for a while though. dont want to get into the motor or anything, not at least until the warranty is out.

I'm fixing to perform maintenance on my 400EX and will probably add the block off plate while working on it. What brand did you go with? Any pics?

they are all pretty much the same, the only difference is the price, color options, and what nifty litle design, if any, that you want on it...

only 10 bux. didnt come with any seals or bolts or anything like all the other guys are talking about but i havent noticed that i need them. I disco'd my P-brake and installed this using the stock bolts in about 18 seconds. no issues that i have noticed yet with it. no grinding either like some of these guys are talking about. just a thought.
