Ok, I just bought a 450 finally. It is an '05. My question is about the fan. Is it suppose to run the whole time the quad is running or does it have a sensor that turns it on? The reason I as is that I ran it for a while yesterday and never seen the fan on. Thanks.

The fan is only turned on when needed. It doesnt run very often if at all.

the fans run at weird times. i thought mine was broken but yesterday i was riding in 30 degree weather and it popped on for the first time. although it doesn't hurt to check it and make sure everything works.

you wont really know its running when your riding, its pretty quiet, if you race or ride in really hot weather you might want to wire it on all the time, all you have to do is ground the wire that goes to the temp sensor

just let your bike run at idle for about 10-15 min and it should kick on at least once in 10-15 min, if it dont pull out a tester and make sure the wires are getting anything.

i have an 04 and not once and i mean not once did i ever see my fan come on until about a week ago it was spinning and when i saw it i even showed my boy that is was on .................now let me tell you why it was on after i noticed the fan on i ran it down and back and noticed i had oil all over the swing arm coming from a crack in my clutch case so yeah at this point it was overheating and thus turning my fan on so they do work as need, now if its on you should see why this only applies to kick starts though!!!!!
