Is your quad stock besides the temp dip stick?

XR's Only has been making these for years. I have used them on my previous dirt bikes (XR 400/650) and they work great. I have one on my 08 400 and it works just as well. Although I don't ever remember seeing temps above 250 on any of them. Consistant oil temps near 280 would make me nervous.
BTW, XR's Only has gone way down hill over the years so don't expect great customer service. Just ordering a simple temp dipstick you should be OK. But most of their other 400EX products can have issues with fitment or being complete. AND if youever have to return something for a credit be prepared to BEG, YELL AND SCREAM to get your money back. Took me 2 months to get the credit for my authorized return(part doesn't fit an EX) after sending dozens of pictures to show it wouldn't work AND 10 or more e-mails and as many phone calls concerning the credit .. for only a $49 credit. My brother stil hasn't gotten the $100 credit on his card for the Christmas Present he got for me that was shipped incomplete that they refused to send the missing items... and they received it back on Jan 11th.!!!

The Trail Tech kit for the EX uses a Spark Plug "sensor" and gives you cylinder head temps at the Spark Plug. Getting temps of around 300 there is not bad.
I am still planning to make an Oil Temp sensor for the Trail Tech so I can see Oil Temps instead of "Cylinder Head Temps". Once I find the magic simple fitting for this that doesn't require cutting and/or splicing oil hoses etc, I will pass it on for others. Would appreciate the same if someone else does it first.

My XR's Only Oil Temperature Dipstick normally registers 220 to 280. Air flow, riding RPM, ambient temperature play a huge part. Anything over 300 and I would be concerned.

Yea I would definitely rather have oil temp but it at least you can get an idea of when its warmed up. oh yeah and trail techs directions suck for install do you have a pic of your speed sensor how you routed it i am scared mine is to close to the tire i followed the break lines as best as i could though
