im trying to figure out if i can use any 400ex parts or 450r parts carrier or axle in my 250r

i have read the 450r brake parts post but im looking for info on axle hubs and carrier information

is the 400ex or 450r axle longer then a stock 250r

the stock 400ex and 450r axles sem to be cheap for a upgrade if they fit.

The 400EX axle and the 250R axle are interchangeable. Although, the 400EX and 250R have a different amount of splines for the rear hubs. For example, if you run a 400EX axle you have to run 400EX hubs, if you run a 250R axle you have to run 250R hubs.

is the 400ex axle and the 250r stock axle the same width?

how about carriers are they interchangable?

Carriers are 100% interchangeable. They have the same part numbers. But I would like to know can a 250R antifade hub work on a 400ex axle with a 250r rear brake?

Do you guys know if a stock 450r axle will work with the 250r/400ex carrier? Thanks

a 250r and 400ex are differeent width, by about 3". The 400ex uses offset hubs by ~1.5", 250r hubs are flat and have no offset. I don't beleive a 250r anti-fade will work on a 400ex axle, the axle clip is in a different location on a 400ex(further out from the carrier). 400ex axles aren't an upgrade, people like to use them as they can be easier to get and more convient also, at times. I never had a problem getting 250r parts, lsr, rpm, team and another make 250r axles and usually have them in stock. 400ex brakes are actually a down grade, why do you think the racers used caliper adapters on their 250r brakes to use them on 400ex spindles?

Cool thanks for the info...I switched to a 450r rear brake setup b/c it was cheaper than buying used 250r brake parts. I wanted to get a cheap used 400ex axle after my durablue sprocket hub tore to pieces and a replacement hub is $100, but I went ahead and purchased another fairly new 250r durablue axle for not much more than the price of a freaking sprocket hub!!
