what type of tool should i use to hone a cylinder? i have an 00 400ex that im working on and the cylinder wall has quite a bit of build up

use a flex hone and a drill.

do i need to get the exact size to fit the cylinder?

It will say what size ranges they fit on the packaging. Just deglaze the cylinder you dont want to take off material, just resurface it.
