get a wire brush to clean off all the rust and what not then maybe some type of cleaning chemicals. but deff use a wire brush or somethin to get all that rust stuff off.

i was thinking of sand blasting it...? Will it shine if i were to take the time?

i would wet sand the aluminum can with 800, then 1000 or more, then polish that, it would look sweet. as for the header, a wire brush does well for the rust. sand blasting the header, i would blast it with glass bead, or possibly walnut shells. depends on what kind of finish you are looking for

I would like it to shine like the can but i dont think that is going to happen. How about some paint or will it just fall off cause of the heat?

Hit the header with a wire wheel. YOu will be amazed at how much it cleans it up.

If i wire wheel it won't it rust like a son of a buck? Or is there a way to stop it,like with some clear coat?

a good paint will last for awhile, but not forever. i painted my old Sparks header, and it was flaking off after a month or so. if you do decide to paint, use high heat paint with ceramic in it.

You COULD buck up and have it Ceramic coated.... My FlowHVO header came ceramic coated, and it looks nice, and stays looking nice.

So i take it there is no hope in making her shine...? Maybe a nice powder coat then or some temporary flat black paint.

you can wet sand the header down and polish it out, but it will change color as soon as you run it. i did one on my 450 and it turned gold colored after i rode it once. all that time and effort for that:ermm:

True i just want it to look nice. But flat black and a nice shiny can will look pretty cool i think. I did hear one thing about that color change on your header pipe, if you spary high temp paint on the inside of the pipe it will stop the color change. Dont think it is ture though.

never tried it to be honest, i just let it go. my sparks for my old 400 was like this: header painted with Eastwood manifold paint, the can was polished out and the tip was too. from the header to the can was flat black.
