I was searching around all the 450r pics and i see several with the old style quad tech hood that i have... i got it off another bike i purchased and at the time it was zip tied on... Well, i want to put it on my bike correctly..

Now for the question.... do you have to trim the stock plastics (where the stock hood clipped into the fronts) to get the quadtech to fit properly?? then place the tabs on the bottom of the quad tech under the plastic??

that is what i had to do with my maier to get it so there was no gap between the hood and the stock plastics...

do you mean the very front or the middle? i thought that you only had to trim the plastic in the very front on 06 and up 450r's since the hood attaches differently? I just put a gen x hood on my 05 450r and didnt have to trim anything at all.

It is an 04 450r and I think he is talking about the middle also... where the stock hood rides on the plastic.

Yea, the hood doesn't fit properly with the middle tabs either... but i wanted to ask around before i cut them off... the plastics are off an 05 or 06, i'm not sure now that you mention it... The front tabs have already been trimmed off by the previous owner..

06 and up 450r's have front tabs for mounting the stock hood. 04/05 450r's do not. If something was trimmed at the very front already id have to guess its 06 plastic. Theres no triming the very front of 04/05 plastic.

Yea they must be 06 plastics then, i can see where they were trimmed off... So do i need to trim the middle tabs off too??
