i wanna go faster

i wanna make my 400ex faster, but i dont want to ruin the reliability of the machine, as of now i have an R4 pipe, modified airbox, K+N filter, ground out welds in pipe, what else can i do to make it faster?? i ride a bit of everything, track, trails etc, no reral racing, but i want more power, what can i do that will not make my bike any less reliable, because i dont have much time 2 fix it the only chance i get to ride is mabye twice a month, any suggestions???

will the pistons and the cam ruin the reliability much?? what about if i go a little bigger with the bore, will it really be less reliable, considering that i only ride like 1 or 2 weekends out of the month and its just for fun, no real racing

The sprocket will help acceleration and you really feel it. I would look into a sparks timing key, maybe remove the choke, and a lot of people have told me if I'm don't want to bore at least get a high compression piston and a cam.

If you want to get more hp your going to need to make mods that will change your engine in many ways. First most will add heat, many will add rpm and most all will add pressures to the crank and drivetrain.

So the answer is no there arent any HP mods that will not effect the long term reliabilty of your engine, but if you pisk the right ones and maintain your machine you can maintain most of the reliability that came from the factory stock.

Oh yeah and suspension should be at the top of that list too.

what will the timing key do, and i dont know if i should remove the choke, i ride in pocanoes pennsylvania, and it hits like 20's in the winter, would that be a problem if i removed the choke?? i really appreciate the help

and im just lookin for a little more speed, there are no straitaways where i go, i like trails, and juss foolin around, and i ride the track sometimes
