Hey guys I have the 525 irs I know I need to rejet
and because of ALL of your guys recommendations I
wouldnt think of going with anything but JD
but I recently found out that the jd kit is oem jets
and two custom needles for elavation and temps.
I dont ride in any crazy elevations or temps
Are the oem jets in my carb right now adjustable
to richen the mix?

You can rejet and use your stock needle, a lot of the hype with JD is his needles, which are tapered to work with the specific bike/quad and the riding you do. I think you can get away with just going up on the stock main and pilot and playing with the needle position, but the JD seems to get you more spot on the first time. If you have the $$$ it's the way to go. You can go to a lot of sites and search for jetting info. Thumpertalk.com has tons, it will edumacate you on carb tuning. Good luck.

I've messed around with a bunch of different stuff
but never the inside of a carb
Anybody have any desriptions or better yet

and changing the clip position on the needle

OK I rejetted to a 165 main
and moved the factory needle to the 5th clip down
turn the idle up a little
runs a whole lot better but every once in while on start
off I'll kill it if I dont use plenty of fuel
is this normal or should I change something
---fyi---- 07 525, air box lid removed, uncorked fac. muffler,
also purchased 168 and 170 mains

Sounds like you need a larger pilot jet go up one size stock I think is a 45 try a 48. All so get a R&D power pump http://www.r1dean.com/index.html

Also the o-ring mod would help the low end stall like that.

Okay for months now I've been laughing at everyone who spent $76 on a JD jet kit
I've played with jetting ( 158, 160, 165, 168, 170)
I've played with the clip position ( every position)
I've played with the air/ fuel screw

I;ve had it runnin pretty darn good for a while

I got a bug and decided I wanted JD's needles and o-rings so I got it

!!!!!!!!! Totally different quad, power delievery is sweet!!!!!!!!!!
JD does make a difference
