EDIT: This turned out to be more of an intro than a question... ;)

Does anyone have one? I love the look of the dual exhaust.

I'm away on business (and have been since October, I won't be home intil June) and when I get back, I'll have a pretty substantial amount of money I can safely spend. However, if I spend $700.00+ on an exhaust, it had better well do something.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about my quad, so no point in asking me what's in it already, lol. I bought it last June for $1400 I think, so I wasn't expecting much of a looker. This was the ad I found on craigslist:

2001 honda 400ex with a big bore 440 kit. 11-1 compression ration stage 2 hot cams ported exhaust and intake carb was a little ported. replace valves and springs upgraded head bolts. white bros cdi box full curtis sparks pipe. plus 2 steering column and tag handel bars. almost brand new klaw front tires on 190 douglas rims and razrs on the back the bike runs mint and is fast and will defently keep up with new 450s. the bike is sold as is.

Well, it definately didn't run mint. I asked the guy when I picked it up if it leaked, he said no, it's near perfect. It was essentially spewing oil out the top of the head, the gaskets were totally shot, and supposedly I was losing close to 80% of my compression (so the shop said...) Well it took about 2 1/2 months in the shop and $2300 to get it up to par again. I got to ride it a whopping 3 times in the months before I left for work, so I don't know much about it... but I can't wait to get back to it. Here she is... not the best looking out there, but shes mine... (btw, if anyone else notices anything non-stock about it, feel free to point it out :) )

Anyway, I like the way this exhaust looks, and I'm wondering what kind of power increase this has. I do mostly trail riding, barely touch tracks.

If it does infact have the Sparks exhaust, I'd keep it. It is one of the best there is. You won't see much, if any gain, if you change to the Looney. Definitely not worth the $700 you'd spend.

Take that $700 and put it towards some suspension.

Dude, i swear if I ever got enough money where the price didnt matter, I would switch to them in a heartbeat. I LOVE the way dual exhausts look.

That one is the ONLY one I would sell/trade my DMC for.

That exhaust is the biggest waste of money you can find. This is another example of a product that sells because it's different and looks cool.

It depends on what you want. For me a Sparks system is a total waste of money because I have no use for a full race system and from what i've read they are very loud. Not acceptable for the dunes out here.

Buying something for looks is very common, some people will even pay $50 for a gas cap.

As for the LTE (i've had a set) IMO they are more for the oohh aahh factor of being different also the sound is also very nice. Perfomance wise i'd guess they are about average compared to the run of the mill systems.

I run LTE's dual ehaust on my quad, have now for two years, I absolutly love the sound and looks, and the power is not far off the comp.
If you do buy the exhaust, dont buy the coated system, their coating is not quality at all. I got the standard system, stainless, and plan on getting it Jet Hot coated this year. Dont run their jetting, they give you like a 52 piliol jet to run (way too rich!!!), I ran a 42 piliot and a DJ165 main when my motor was stock with this system.
If you do a lot of MX style riding, be prepaired to be fixing the airbox, its just like every other aluminum one that locates the battery into the airbox. It will break, and if you are using your full travel of your suspension, your brake caliper will hit the box, just like every other one, including the stock airbox's modded to fit a battery!!!!!
But for me, its all worth it, I have no problem fixing my quad and building new things for them. The looks and SOUND of this exhaust is what I wanted, when I hit the grounds to play, people stop and watch, so if you like the attention, get it!!!!!!
OH, and this system is up there with the rest of the systems on power, I pulled it off to put a full HMF system on, my LTE made on average .27 more hp than the HMF system. I love this system, and its 3lbs heaver than the average full system.
Hopes this helps.....
