Traveling down to Wolfpack and picking up our new 2008 Drx90 in the morning. The boy and I are pretty excited. I was holding out for a new super typhoon and we decided to go the proven route with the Drx's. All we do is Mx race.
I'm looking for reccomedations on it as far as things that need to be improved or upgraded right off the bat. He's coming off a trx90 that he won a peewee stock championship with and is movingup to superstock. I'm sure shane at wolfpack will answer my questions, but I'm sure there's things I'll forget to ask in the excitement. So....
Do these have any restrictors that need to be removed? Intake or Exhaust? What nerfs do people seem to like the best. I plan on getting the rear brake pedal kit right away. Are the stock drive chains crappy like most stock machines?
Thanks for your input.
Drx newbee.

There is no such thing as a 90 LTD anymore
The LTD was available as a stock DRX90 with upgrades that a dealer did at their shop and each dealer did something different, so it really is more of an idea than a model
I really wish that was removed fromt their site...
Reason is....90% of the upgrade features listed are now stock parts on a DRX90
Really all it is missing is the nerfs, wheels and rear snow hogs.
The LTD was introduced as the 06s ended and the 07s were introduced.
Shane is a top notch guy with lots of experience...
You are in very good hands

Welcome to the Nation...The foot brake is a good idea. I'm sure Shane will remove the rev limiting CDI, if they still come with one. Other wise getting the jetting and clutching down for the rider and these will run very strong right out of the box. Good luck with the new quad and hope your rider has fun with it.

here is what we do for our racers now,
get the atv, completely disassemble
powdercoat everything
remove all useless electrical stuff(batt, starter, limiter, etc.)
those 2 are getting carried away, but the rest is very useful;
perf CDI
XFR nerfs
clutch mods
drr rolled pro wheel rims
holeshots up front, 18" sno hogs in back
powermadd hand guards
just to name a few
all opinions of course

DRR 90 LTD is used by some dealers as a selling piont, they do their mods just as on the DRR site and give as I found 20% off rider discount to give you a package cost....
Your rights its and idea, but more over its what most have done anyway that race.... I didnt know they all come with braided brake lines , koso intake and k&n filter, nerfs , hetrick/trinity pipe, keihin carbs, race tether and aluminum wheels... thats alot more and about 32-3500 puts its competitors pricing about even.
Too bad it dont run as gooD as the DRR
All the other stuff is stock like improved shocks, wider option a-arms wider axle clutch mods are ok but better done for competition... Really its just a better way to sell.... recreational vs competition... Then Im not a dealer ,, I just would know the discount for a racer ready quad over a stock then paying to upgrade would get my attention quicker...
IE>>> If ZAIR is NO DIZCOUNTS ,,,, ZAIR IS NO SELL>> Comprendia

Well, we brought home a black Drx90. Ordered the XFR nerfs, footbrake kit, and bought a set of rolled edge pro wheels. Today I ordered a set of snow hogs, uni pod filters, a liter of Maxima super m and I've got a pail of Vp u2 in the garage waiting. So we're getting closer.
Now I need to look into a steering damper, and would like reccomedations for a pipe and clutch kit. Starting point for jetting? Thanks all.

you may need to advance the timing if you are going to run race gas. They are set up for pump gas!
I love the hetrick pipe! BUt thats all I have ever used so I don't have any comparison!
get you some jets for dialing the carb in.

I WOULD DEFINATELY CHANGE THE PIPE AND THE REAR CLUTCH SPRING. WE CHANGE OURS TO A 1500 MALOSSI. MAYBE CHANGE THE CARB OUT TO A KEIHN. PUT ON THE NEW XFR BOLT ON NERFS, AND GO WITH THE DRR ALLOYS FRONT AND REAR WITH THE CARLISLE SNOW HOGS ON THE REAR FOR RUBBER. MAKE SURE IT HAS THE HIGH REV CDI. YARD OFF THE ELECTRIC START AND OIL INJECTION. RUN A GOOD FUEL AND I LOVE THE NEW DMHR SYNTHETIC OIL MIX AT 40:1. THE STOCK CHAIN IS GREAT, WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM. I WOULD RECOMMEND GETTING RID OF ALL THE FACTORY WIRING, IF YOU DON'T NEED IT. YOU MAY CONSIDER PUTTING ON A TRANNY SAVER FOR PIECE OF MIND. ONE MORE THING YOU MAY CONSIDER IS V-FORCE 3 REEDS. THEY WORK GREAT! A NICELY GUSSETTED AND POWDER COATED FRAME WILL TAKE ANY AMOUNT OF ABUSE YOUR SON COULD THROW AT IT. ENJOY IT! YOU MADE A GREAT DECISION AND PURCHASE. THE DRR IS A WONDERFUL PRODUCT WITH GREAT SERVICE FROM DRR.

Your unit came from our whse, so it has the hardened gears, high compression head, new Sunworld 24mm Carb and no oil injection from the factory.
Gibson makes a steering damper....For the clutch try the Dr. Pulley "hit clutch"....When it is set up right it earns it's name!!
The needle setting should be tuned to get the most performance out of that carb.
You can make them run decent with the stock pipe with a port job, but the Power Pro pipe works well too.
I would recomend sticking with 1 source for your advice (Shane is a great source) so that way everything matches up and works together.
2 good pieces of advice can go bad if they don't work the same way together
Welcome to the DRR Nation!!
i second that about the hit clutch , very impressed with it and its performance

Hey give up some more info on this hit clutch... best used on 90's or on all cc mini's... is it like the malossi as in a complete package EI over-range system or is it just a clutch...lighten or whatever.. got a web site for info ...plug us in...
Oh and the Trinity/hetrick pipe is a proven and awesome perfroming pipe low mid and high range.... others are ok but for overall performance i would stick there....
And Gary is right about keeping things together... Or you may have everything needed but no power in the end...If your shopping around stuff you better keep a good list of what is done and what was added... I have had to start from scratch twice just to get the same results as one time to the same person.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. Especially what bulldog was saying about combonations and not just throwing parts at it. Being new to this model, for me it's been knowing what questions to ask. If that makes any sense.
This came with a high compression head, is that high enough to make running race gas effective? I'm competent enough to rechamber the head for more compression if neccessary. What is enough for 100 octane, and what is too much?
Thanks again for everybody's help
