I am looking for home remedies for scratched CD's and DVD's. The cd doctor hasn't worked very well, I once heard a mixture of brasso with something else will polish out scratches in optical media:confused:
Flush it. put it in a toilet bottom side up and flush. And also toothpaste works well.

Believe it or not Windex works pretty darn well if it's not deeply scratched. If it has a ton of surface scratches no big deal, it's more about the dirt and junk that get trapped in the scratches.
My buddy had this X-box 360 game that was scratched like crazy and wouldn't load up. He tried over and over, same error message. We gave it a few wipes with Windex and I couldn't believe it loaded up first try!

try miracle whip salad dressing or mayonaise.
google the flush thing. its acutlly pretty well known way. the water swirls around it and helps clean all the scratch so you can get a few plays out of it. Ive got a few cds to work that way. depending on how bad it really is.

Anyone ever think of trying a little mop&glow on a sponge? Then once it dries buff it out w/ a shammy?
It is a polymer. Never tried it myself, but my first though is that it should work well unless it causes the light to refract funny.
Worth a try on an old CD you dont care about.
