Why a "cheap" oil filter??

Usually go down to the local Honda shop, where I bought my 450, and simply get a Honda filter and Honda oil. You could get the synthetic, but it's almost double the price.

use the HP4 synthetic, its more expensive but if you ride your 450 the way it was made to be ridden, its worth the extra protection. And I agree with the above..........why a cheap filter? For what the 450 cost you, isnt worth the $5.00 for a Honda filter?

.78L after draining
.82 after filter change and draining
1.20 after disassembly

transmission is

.55L after draing
.65 after disassembly

Ok so i basicalli need two of those one quart bottles???, i have no idea how im i gonna mesure the exact amout! the manual sais .82 motor, .55 transmision! so nobody agrees on a number i guess! im confused again!:(

Try almost $15 around here.

Nothing worng with K&N oil filters, I have used them since I got my first 450R in 2004, and used them in my CRF and WR bikes before that. Never had any problems and the engines have always looked good on tear downs.

So the manual states the above, but you do not believe it? Not really sure what you are asking. If the manual states 0.82 engine and 0.55 transmission, put that much in them. Try some type of measuring cup (I use a ratio rite, two stroke guys will know what that is!) Convert quarts to cc's, and you have your answer.

guys i may sound like a complete idiot here or just a dumb redneck haha but when i change my or or fill up after a tear down either one i just fill my engine up in the sightglass......ride it.....then if it went down any after about 5 minutes of riding i top it off, same way with the transmission side and the oil-level check bolt????? is that not a good thing to do cause ive done everything like that since 15 years ago in my xr80 days haha

Get a ratio rite cup. 650cc's in the tranny, and a little less then a quart for the engine side. You going to pour oil into the motor until you see it reach the top of the sight glass. Run it then let it sit for a bit. Recheck where your at.

Didnt really mean it literally. I was saying when you pay $7000 for a brand new bike, its worth the couple extra bucks to maintain it correctly, thats all.

With my healthy discount at the local Honda shop, I pay just about 5 bucks for a filter. :o

i usually do that to when im unsure how much i put in there..i jus make sure that the oil level is about half way in the sightglass when not running..
