Engine. you could start rolling it down hills. That will save weight.

rims and tires. dont really need them anyways. there just on there for looks
or you could make your quad a skeletor. no plastic

Well since were going this far you might as well not even own the quad, just throw it away

Switch to pro pegs (gets rid of steel pegs), get more rim/less tire (aluminum is lighter then rubber), aluminum bodied shocks, strip the quad down to the frame, and remove all tabs that you dont need, if you wanted you could ditch the battery and push start it, aluminum bumper, aluminum sub frame, Ti bolts (or dished bolts), aluminum handle bars, trim your fenders, sand your remaining fenders thinner, tear the quad down, and when putting it back together, say, do I really need this? That should get you started.

yeah i was thinking about the rim/tire thing. i have kinda already started on taking off the tabs that aren't used like for the emergency brake and stuff. i am getting new bars soon so that should help. i wish i could get new pegs. but i don't have 200 some bucks for a pair either or i would.

yeah cut fenders, new handle bars, if you want to spend $ get new a-arms i'm sure you'll shave off some weight there.

well your arms and legs make up a good percentage of your weight, so lose them and maybe get your kidneys removed, oooooooooooooo you wanted to LIVE and make your quad lighter well thats just impossible i can only make it heavier, i dont know how a human being can make one lighter i mean they have to weigh more than 0 pounds

Oh, I forgot, an aftermarket exaust is a good way to shave pounds too. The stock silencer weighs about 8 lbs. Aftermarket is about half that.

go
poop!

also try fabricating a smaller gas tank like kuting the top and stuff to make it lighter and a lower center of gravity thats what i did....
also i kut the wiring on my cdi and put it closer to the motor and lost the extra wiring.........;)

yeah that stock exhaust i heavy, it is a fat pig and a norditrack couldnt hurt to lighten it either, think about it, when full of fluids it weights about 430lbs and then add a normal male weighing in a 180 then your little quad has to carry around 610lbs, come on 29hp carrying 610lbs

I would loose some weight. Start doing situps or something. Buy a new frame. get some new alumnium parts! Why do u want it light its not going to make a big difference shaving off a few pounds unless you have money to buy new stuff for it.

11-19-2002, 06:31 PM
ok whatever but do you get my point about the weight thing? i was thinking about it the other day. man for the total thing weighing 600lbs with me on it that little 400 sure is a srong engine
