upgrading to a 416ex in the next month. Question is stage 1 or stage 2 hotcam with an 11:1 piston? no racing, just trail riding, playing in the mud, and crusin the hills of WV, both are the same price and install is the same to. I'm just looking for power. Any help? Hope to have it done and broke in for Quadfest 2008 in July

Either you will see a power increase, I say stage 1 which has amazing mid range I think stage 2 is a more top but i'm not sure.

Added info. I spend alot of time high in 2nd to mid in 3rd gear when i ride due to hills mud and tight trails if that helps with the choose.

i love my stage 2. it has more mid and top end power. no more down shifting coming out of a turn. just hit the throttle

You can't go wrong with either, my vote is for the Stage 2.

Stage 1 - Mid-top gain.

Stage 2 - Mid range with more top end then stage 1.

Hope that helped.

Maybe i'll see ya at quadfest, we're goin this year.

Trail and mud = stage 1. You'll like the power delivery better then the stg 2 for your type of riding.

stage 1 also. i never really have to downshift coming out of a turn anyways, i cant keep the front end down in second, and i can pull the wheels sitting down in third. all i got is a 10:1 406, with stage 1 hotcam. its great in tight trails.

When i went from my stage 1 to my stage 2 i dont think i lost any power in the low rpms at all. Plus it does make a little more power up top. Id go stage 2.
