View Full Version : 04 z400 but 05 carb NEED HELP

i just picked up a z400 2004, it needed a carb and i got a carbfrom an 05 not realizing it has the throttle positioning sensor, so i talked to a few ppl they said just throw the carb in and see what happens, i have it all together now it wont start great and when it does it runs like garbage, any way this carb will work for me? i heard just splice the two wires together will just stop the sensor from working, any ideas or should i just look for a 04 carb

just get an 05 wire harness and wa la!

you think its worth rewiring the whole quad, im thinking swappin carbs would just be easier but idk

you dont have to rewire it. all yo have to do is pull a few of the connectors and put the 05 harness in its place. you might need the 05 cdi box as well. it depends on if you want the bigger carb or not.

guys , i ran a 05 carb on my 03 Z for over year with no problems what so ever.
its some thing other than a wire.
do your self a faver and get a dynatek cdi ,you will be way happer with it any way,a better toqure curve more RPM's, its a win win thing.

Higher RPMS + Stock Vavles = Boom


Just get a 03 or 04 Carb and sell the 05

perhaps you could tell us what if any mods have been done to your quad , is it completely a stock quad or is there some after market items on it ,pipe,air filter , lid off etc.etc. ?
what is in the 05 carb as far as jets and how many turns out on the fuel screw, is there a adjustable needle ?
what was in your old carb for jets ?
