Okay you motorheads, I am looking for someone to tell me - How do I know if I got my timing set up correctly? Is there an optimum firing point with the MK? When I first installed the MK I used a degree wheel and put marks on the pvl for 15, 20, 25 degrees I believe. I have since corrected my squish to less squish than I originally had so I'm wondering how that would affect things. I do not have access to the degree wheel now but can get a dial indicator to use through the spark plug hole. Thanks ahead of time,

With an anaolog PVL we run them from 1.4 to 1.8 with a dial indicator

A digital PVL can use a lot more advance (The MK likes about 5mm advance)

Hi Gary, Sorry for being an idiot but I want to be very clear because I don't wanna blow it up. 1.4 to 1.8 of what measurement? (thousands?)

1.4 - 1.8 is referring to MM, that would convert to about .055 - .070 "thousandths" , Allways start with the smaller amount of advance , too much advance can cause damage. The higher the # the more the advance, ..hopes this helps

Hey Rock if your still not getting it call Penton Racing......... when I did Kyle's on his 70 it was .040 btdc. But of course it was a different jug. The Penton dude helped me a lot once you do it once it's a piece of cake.
