Shifting Hard??

So would really appreciate any advice here. I have a 98 300 EX, pretty much stock, went out in the rain yesterday and noticed that when I shifted, it was giving a pretty hard "bang" into gear....any advice on what this could be...didn't feel like the rear end, but am not a mechanic, so don't know?????

First thing I would check is to make sure your clutch cable is properly adjusted. If the clutch isn't letting off completely it will shift hard. If not that then you may need to dig deeper. Could be a worn clutch or you could have a bent shift fork which is very common on the 300ex.
