I hope I don't get laughed at too much for this question.
I just bought a used 400ex and am going to replace the brake pads as they are all worn. Are there any tips or tricks to doing this or do I just start dismantling and replacing?
Thanks!!

loosed the 2 bolts/pins that hold the pads in place...you will need to use a screwdriver to bend the locking tabs away from the heads.
take the 2 bolts that hold the caliper on...they are a 12 mm head...then slide the caliper off
finish taking the bolts/pins out...and the pad should just "fall" out
use a c-clamp to ensure the brake piston is all the way in.
reverse process, replacing with new pads...hop on and take it for a spin...

Sounds easy enough. Thank you for the reply!!!
Is it worth picjing up a Clymer's manual for these? I had one for a bike years back and I don't remember if it was helpful or not. I'm trying to find an online manual in pdf format but am having one heck of a time. Another member sent me a link, but that is now gone...

i have always preferred the oem honda manual, but both that and the clymer has their drawbacks...it seems where one fails, the other make sup for it...

i have pdf manuals for both of my bikes...that is my favorite way to go...
