Hey all,
I've found this 460 kit on ebay and i'm pretty keen to get it:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/400ex-Honda-460cc-big-bore-piston-stroker-crankshaft_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34284QQihZ00 9QQitemZ190198477696QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Was just wondering if any of you others out there with 460's or experience with them can tell me if this kit seems like a good thing?
How does everyone else find the 460's for reliability?
I will get a stage 3 hot cam, HD head studs and cam chain as well.
I noticed also the piston is 12-1 does that seem high compression for a 460?

Any help is really appreciated.
cheers

Just wondering, but why spend 50% of your bike's value on that?

(figuring the added machine work of putting the sleeve in)

My brother is a mechanic so he's going to help me out with the labour and machining work.
I love my EX and ive just given it a ground up rebuild, all i need is a good engine setup to top it all off.
I just enjoy having something a little different.

Me personally id stay right away from that.Your asking for trouble, and if i were to have this done i would call a professional shop.Im pretty sure that theirs more involved than you may think.

Also this is not mentioned on the eBay site and i may be wrong but i believe that your engine cases need to be machined to accept the new stroker crank.Like i said i may be wrong but someone else will elaborate on this for you.Or i just might be thinking about the fourstroke tech 500 kit.

The cylinder will need the sleeve installed my a machinist and maybe the piston skirt will need trimming but other then that it's nothing too hard. It's a crank swap and big bore on the top end. You won't have to machine the case halves. The only thing I'd hire out is the machine work. Just from a quick look I'd say the price is about right.

i have a +4 mm stroked crank and a cp440 piston in mine, it runs awesome and will keep up with the 450's, but for trail riding, and putting around i wouldnt recommend it. i race XC so the extra power will come in handy. other wise i would just stick to my other 406 400ex

Thanks for the help guys...
I decided to go all out and get the kit so hopefully everything will work out ok.
Cant wait to see how it performs
going to get a 450r carb and sparks exhaust so hopefully i should be able to get the thing making some decent power.

Thanks again for the help, keep the info coming if any of you others out there have experience with 460's it'd be good to hear from you....
