I was just wondering if anyone knows if the air intake or air boot on the different year 250rs are different in length at all? I just swapped my 89 250r over to an lsr frame and i seem to have quite a gap between the carb and the air boot. I was wondering if anyone knew if the different year Rs had different length intakes or air boots where i could maybe make up the space somehow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate. Thanks.

Sorry for the photo quality. Maybe its time to invest in a new Digital camera!

The air boots are the same length. I went from an 87+ to an 86 air boot and no problems. The only difference is that the 87 and up years have an air chamber that is designed to reduce intake noise.

Your problem could be with where the frame mounts the air box. Lsr could have designed it differently, I'm not sure.

These guys had some ideas:

Make sure your reed cage isn't a cr style, I hear those are shorter.

If you cant find an air boot that will fit, you know the drill..... head over to the hardware store and get a longer length tube for the reed-carb section.

Someone had mentioned running a 3/4" reed spacer? They had said that is what they are running on their lsr framed R. Is there any disadvantages to running the larger reed spacer?

Probably just run the longer reed spacer, they don't do very much, although I've heard people say they add to top end, if they do it can't be by very much...
