I've got a 87 250X that I'm building back up. I like the bike fine (plenty of go fast goodies available) but I have never been nuts about the shorter wheelbase of the 250X. Before I get the swingarm/frame/etc powdercoated I decided I better look into getting the swingarm lengthened while it's apart.

I don't know much about it. Having a chunk cut out and rewelded doesn't give me warm fuzzy feelings though.

Does anyone have any advice on moding my swingarm or buying a longer one? I've heard you can go out 2.5 inches without modding the brake line, and according to my calculations that appears to be right where I want it to be.

Thanks for any tips or info.

2.5 inches is a HUGE difference. probably more then u realize. Also you can get +2+1 a arms for your quad to make it longer. That would change aroud the front rear weight ration but u could do it.
