i found a YFz motor and all the stuff to make a hybrid out my 400ex for a reasonable price. I was wondering if anyone has ever done this before? i know they do it alot with the yz dirtbike engines but i don't know how different the two motors are. I'd love to see some pics of a yfz/400ex hybrid.

I believe the YFZ's bolt pattern really has no difference then a dirtbike engine...and the engines themselves are the same sizes....

you would be better off putting a 03 yz450F dirtbike motor in, if anything...they made the most power

The yfz450 mount locations and spacing are totally different than both the yz400/426f's and the yz450f. But anything can be done with a little bit of time and effort! I looked into doing a walsh yfz450 quad about a year ago and decided i really didnt want to hack up a perfectly good Walsh yzf chassis, so i just dropped the idea really. But id say if you can get the powertrain pretty cheap and have a 400ex, it shouldnt really be an issue converting it.

Thank you
