I don't trust them. I'd much rather spend $2-$3/ea on a Hi-Flo and replace it more often.

re-using an oil filter is asking for problems. If you cant afford the $5 for a new one then dont ride as much.

Im not talking about re-using an old filter! no way, im talking about reusable, they are like $50.00 i think you take it out and washed like a reusable air filter!they claim u can use it over and over just like a K&N air filter!

I don't trust them. I would rather be safe and spend $6 on a new one every oil change.

The only thing i can add to this is that the first time engine number one for my 450r threw a lower rod bearing it was like a month or two after i switched to a stainless steel oil filter. The secoond time it let loose 6 months later and i had a stainless filter as well. Now my back up engine i havent used one yet just a k&n or proflo filter. Been about 8 months and i havent even seen a single shaving at all.

Now i dunno if its because of the filter or not. I also changed the kind of oil i used in the backup engine as well.

So do i think it caused engine number one to fail both times im not sure. All i know is that engine two has been running awesome with not a single problem yet. NO stainless oil filter.

I guess you make your own judgement.......

i've used a Ready Racing filter for about 1 1/2 seasons with absolutely no problems. all you need to do is clean it out at every oil change and you're good. i change my oil every 2 race days so it pays for itself pretty quickly.

I have been running the same K&N filters in my quad since sept. 05. I change my oil n filter every few rides and it has been working for me. I am going to stick to the same filters. It would make me feel a lot better sticking in a new filter every time instead of one that is half @ss cleaned with old oil n water on it.

Ok for most of the opinions im thinking to stick to disposable oil filters for now, thank you guys!;)

I looked at buying 1 but look how many regular filters you can buy for the price of the resuable. Sure the reusable will probally last longer but I choose to stay with filters like OEM. I actually use Fram oil filters in my quad and I have no complaints at all. They are cheap in price, easy to get, and they work well.

I use a CompFlow, and after 4 engine hours you can still see the little star-shaped thing through the oil viewing hole. Maybe the placebo effect, but if someone told me that multiple tests had proven that the ready filter filters better, I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm not a fan of the reusable filter. I never had a problem or even used one. I just don't like the idea.

There was one on my 450r when I got it and I ran it for a year with it before I sold the quad. No problems with the bike, other than needing a new piston (the bike was raced two seasons on the stocker). Just to clear up any confusion, to clean the filter you just spray it from the inside out with carb cleaner. The filter always caught a lot of shavings, and cleaned up very well. I am going to put one on my 400ex now also. I have always been afraid to trust paper filters, they don't look as robust, but that's just me.:)

I would agree, the idea seems sketchy.

My friend has a CRF and I have the TRX, and we were basically having a stare-down to see who would crack first. Our souls said no but our engineering minds said yes. They are supposed to filter better, and have better flow on startup, which is a major issue with paper elements until they get warm.

my "agreement" was directed at TRX450R_Racer, to clear up any confusion.

I've been using a ready racing reusable filter for almost 2 full race seasons and training rides with NO problems. I like to change my oil often and I dont have time to go to a local shop to pick one up. Not to mention how much better a reusable filter is for the environment. I highly recommend them.

I use a Scotts SS filter on both my 06 450r and 07 400ex and havent had a single problem. My 06 has a lot of hard hours on it with no bad bearings whatsoever.
