'07 400ex Issue

Just bought a 400ex and realized that it will only start in neutral. Anyone know what we need to do to bypass this "safety feature"??? I know with my '05 400 we had to clip a black and gray wire to get it to start in reverse but it would start in gear. Is that still the wire to clip on the '07to be able to start in reverse??? Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Yes you can still do the reverse mod on the 07'.

As far as for starting in gear, there will be a yellow + green stipe wire and an green wire (i believe they are the greens ones). Anyway assuming you have a stock clutch and perch, the wire will be runnin into the pearch near the parkingbrake. Locate those two wire and splice them together. Tape them up. Put your quad in gear and Fire your quad up and you will start in gear. :D

Your 07 should start in 1st gear, it is supposed to so I would definately check on that.

ya my 07 400 would start in every gear and so does my LTR. but for the 400 it wouldnt start in reverse. it would just roll over but not fire up. so it should already start in every gear

so what was the problem?

Didn't realize when we disconnected the parking brake that we had to connect the two wires together that went into that housing.

We figured it out by unwrapping all the electrical tape off of my '05 (done before I bought it used) and that is when we saw what we needed to do.
