bought an after market clutch for my brothers king quad. wondering how hard it is to install. do I need to pull the clutch off the crank, and do I need a special puller? or can I use a generic puller of some sort. the quad is newer, and never been apart in this area, so I am just curious

What all did the clutch kit come with?

If it comes with secondary spring and weights you will need to pull both pulleys.

THey are both held on with nuts with about 80Lbs tourqe so you will need to make or buy something to hold the clutches when you go to take them off and put them back on. I used a gernaric clutch/flywheel puller i bought for my banshee 5 years ago. Just be careful not to break off the tabs on the secondary. I broke one of mine lol.

To replace the secondary spring you need to take the secondary off and take out the old spring. Its held on there with a nut and a sort of a washer. I used a press to hold it down so the spring didnt get me in the eye:eek2:

When you go to install it be sure to twist the spring in the correct direction. Otherwise it wont work.

To replace the weight all you need to do is pull the primary off. There will be a plate on the end of it. Pull that plate off and you will see the weight. Just use a press or a hammer and socket to get the weights out.

I do not know how to replace the wet springs. I never felt I needed to. BUt they are internal and you will need some new gaskets.

Hope this helps a little. Its accually really easy too do
