Rear Hubs???? 2001 400ex.

I have a question. I have a 2001 400ex and they want almost $300 for 2 rear hubs for my bike but a 2002 400ex hub lists for $40 each! Whats the deal with that. Dealer just ripping me off? I thought ALL 400ex hubs were the same. If so, can I just buy 2002 hubs? Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

That is odd, I don't know for sure if they are interchangable, but since all aftermarket axles say they fit all years I can't imagine why they wouldn't.

I would go for the 2005 and later as they are even cheaper..

Thanks. I didn't think it mattered! Anybody know for sure. See I have my regular parts guy and I already ordered the hubs. They are in but I would rather pay the restocking fee and get the cheaper ones as it wouls still save me about $200!

OK, in that case I have a simplier suggestion. Have him order the 05-up version. Then either compare each of them at the shop before you pay, OR take one of each home, test fit each one and then return which ever one doesn't fit and/or is the most expensive. The restock fee on the cheap ones would be very cheap.

After going some quick checks on RM ATV all of their hubs say 1999-2008, same goes for the axles.

I would order the 05 version and pay the restock fee on the 01 version.

Thanks, I'll prolly do that. But does anyone know for sure. I have been waiting for these hubs for 2 months now. I really don't feel like waiting another 2 and them not fit.

At first I thought wow, 2 months? I get my Honda parts in 2 days when I order then.... BUT then I saw you are in Canada.. Honda is rough on you guys up there, with prices and delivery times.

Have a friend in Newfoundland, he orders parts he needs for the NEXT season ahead of time because it takes so long.

They're all compatible; 250x, 300ex, 400ex, 450r. Get the cheaper ones. Just curious though, why new hubs?

Yes they are all the same 99 through 07. I know this for a fact, I have some 99 hubs that have been on a 99, 01, 02 and a 07. 08 is probabaly the same but I'm not sure.

Yes, for sure same as an 05. Had the same Dominator axle on both for awhile.

There you go then, 99 through 08 hubs are all interchangeable.
