I finally got tired off smelling burnt rubber from where my kids shoes kept hiting the head pipe. so I made this heat shield out of some scrap parts from a machine where I work. I think it looks pretty good. Don't look at the dirty quad just the heat shield, its been to cold to get the water out an wash it.

That thing looks pretty cool. How old are your kids?

They must have a pretty fast 300Ex.

You can kind of see their toys in the background. They melt their shoes when I give them a ride and their feet hang down and hit the pipe. It kind of smells like when I get on the blacktop and smoke the tires on the quad.

I need to do that to mine, I'm tired of burning my dang leg and getting holes in all of my pants :mad: What all did you use to mount it up? Thanks

This is what I used to install it on the pipe. You can get these at the hardware store, all they are are clamps for holding pipes to the wall. I stood one up in the vise grips to show the hole they have in the top but its hard to tell. I installed the shield with the pipe still on the quad but it would of been much easier if I had marked where I wanted it on the pipe, remove the pipe from the motor, than installed the shield.

I think once it warms up to where I can wash the quad. I'll polish it and see how it turns out.
