Just know your limits. That big bike is going to sling you around.

You better be a man if you plan on riding it very hard.:blah:

are you talkin the quad or dirtbike?? The dirtbikes are very, very powerful. The only time I like riding my bud's, is on the street, or a wide open place. He's 6'4" I believe, and like 260 pounds, and that bikes still got plenty more power than he needs. They're fun bikes, but nothing I would wanna take to a track.

its all about knowing your limits man! if you go out and drop the clutch and pin it then your gonna want to get rid of that bike ASAP!

my cousin had one and it was awesome. Kinda like a big 450. Lots of power.

if it is your first bike i would look for a 250 to get some seat time before getting a bike that big. just my 2cents :)

a 250 isn't exactly a small bike either haha. Honestly I think it'd be easier to ride the 525 than the 250. My cousin's 525 is smooth.

525 power is nice. they make a nice dual sport bike also. baja designs makes a kit for them. there weight is the big factor.:D

defintely not a 525 for a first bike, WAY TOO MUCH BIKE. I have a 450exc and its alot of bike to ride sometimes. For your first bike, get a used 250 or used air-cooled xr 250/400. The first time on a bike is a rude awakening. You will fall alot and crash due to throttle control problems(not used to twist throttles) or not used to how dirtbikes are in ruts/sand/mud and slick terrain. One you are used to the bike and have spent a few months on a bike, THEN, get that huge bike. I will warn you, in tight terrain and adverse conditions, big bikes are alot to ride, for expeirenced riders. The smaller bikes are much easier to control in these condions. I went from a xr250 to a husky tc610 and it was a huge jump, I was much happier with the xr250, so much easier to ride most all the time. Granted on wide open, it was a slaughter, the 610 walked away from it, but a small percentage of riding wasn't worth it. I sold the 610 a few months later(after only riding the xr250 and letting the 610 collect dust). The smaller bike was so much more enjoyable to ride.

I would go ride some dirtbikes first, before you decide what to get. You will change your mind on what to get. Going from never riding a bike to a ktm525sx, is like going from never riding a quad to a pro's race quad, way too much power and you will hate it. Start small and work your way up. That is how many accidents happen, people never had a bike, then get the biggest bike they can, get in an accident/hurt and then sue and swearing off atvs/dirtbikes. Would you get a cr500 for your first bike, NO WAY, getting a 525 would be like the same thing.

my first dirtbike was a 98 KTM 620 rxc, im 5'6 and weigh like 120 but i had ridden before that, i just never had my own bike, it was a handful but honestly it was fun, the 525 is a light powerful bike, great fun when you know how to use the power. my 620 is more laid back power wise it has an Lc4 motor nothing like the rfs motors.

I wouldnt buy a 525 as a first bike its a great bike but there is lots of power there

lots of power, but seriously take your time. They are really smooth bikes. If worse comes to worse you could always sell it and get something smaller and maybe pocket some cash?
